The story begins with Cilla's family facing a tragic fate. Her father, driven by greed, betrayed their pack by illegally mining and selling minerals. As a result, Cilla, her eleven - year - old twin siblings, and her parents were captured. In the forest clearing within the pack's territory, Cilla and her siblings were tied up, and her father was interrogated. Her mother was also tied up and was in despair. When the ruthless Alpha Aragon arrived, he ordered the twins to be taken away. Cilla was whipped, and her mother was stabbed to death right in front of her. Her father was then hanged. After that, Cilla was drugged and taken to a place where she found herself in a room with other girls.

In this place, she learned that they were captives of a slave trader. The plan was to make them have children and then sell both the women and the children. Patricia was the only one who got pregnant and gave birth, but soon after, she committed suicide. Later, Cilla and the other girls were drugged again and taken to a new location - the Blackmoon pack.

At the Blackmoon pack, Cilla was assigned to be a maid. She had to clean the workmen's rooms, wash their clothes, and cook for them. She met Letti, who showed her around. Maryanne and Angela were also brought there, but Angela was missing, which made Maryanne extremely worried and distraught. While doing the laundry, Cilla had to do most of the work as Maryanne was too emotional.

One day, when Cilla and Maryanne were near the pack palace, Cilla was attracted by a sweet piney smell. It turned out that the source was the alpha king of the Blackmoon pack. Cilla was shocked to find out that he was her mate. However, the alpha king, who was with a woman named Miss Willow, showed no sign of recognizing the mate bond. He even shoved Cilla aside when she didn't move out of his way, leaving Cilla heartbroken but still holding onto a glimmer of hope since he hadn't made Miss Willow his Luna. The story ends with Cilla's uncertain future in the Blackmoon pack, facing the challenges of being a slave and the complex situation with her mate.
