Luna lost her mother and then witnessed her father's remarriage. Her step - mother, Rebekah, and step - sister, Amelia, treat her abominably. Before the party, there is an incident where Carl's food goes missing. It turns out that Luna's cat, Drac, brought her the food, which was actually Carl's. This causes quite a stir in the pack, but luckily, the alpha doesn't pursue the matter further.
As the party day arrives, Luna is initially excited about finding her mate. But Rebekah tries to ruin her day by attempting to make her her personal maid. Fortunately, Madam Sandra, the chief maid, intervenes and takes Luna with her to do inspections. On the way, Madam Sandra raises some thought - provoking questions to Luna about what she truly expects from her mate, which makes Luna start to have second thoughts about her eagerness to find a mate.
During the party, when Alpha Roger the second, Alpha Carl, and Amelia enter, Luna experiences a strange tingling sensation upon seeing Carl. A voice in her head whispers "Mate," but she is confused about these new feelings. As the party progresses, there are various incidents, such as some maids almost causing trouble with guests. Luna also starts to feel a mysterious pain in her chest, and when she realizes Carl's seat is empty, she rushes to the restroom.
The story is a roller - coaster of emotions, following Luna's journey of self - discovery, the hope and despair in her search for love and acceptance, and the complex relationships within the werewolf pack.
